It's been 3 years!

On April 3rd 2009 at 9:25 am our lives forever changed as we saw our beautiful Emma's face for the very first time!  I remember the moment as if it happened yesterday.  God's grace truly shined through our daughter's eyes as I continually looked at her picture.  How awesome and wonderful our Heavenly Father is.  Thank you Dear Lord for our precious Emma.  We are all forever changed!

A great end to 2011!

We have had a wonderful & busy time these last few months of 2011...

We went up to Williams to board the Polar Express with our dear friends the Davenports. Emma & Lauren had a great time. They truly are best friends! We missed Daddy- as he was in school, but are looking forward to going next year!

We spent Thanksgiving in Munds Park at Jody & Colleen's cabin. Emma loves going up there and the weather was crisp & cool. Emma wants to buy her "own pink Rhino for $500" when she "gets bigger" :o)
Emma had her very first Mini-Gymnastics Meet in December. Most of the family came to see her show off her tumbling skills.

The very next week, Emma & the rest of her preschool performed 4 Christmas songs. It was beautiful! I had tears of joy running down my cheek as I realized how very blessed we are & to see our angel up on stage for the very first time.

Brian's work hosted 2 Christmas Parties! The first was a Family Party with crafts, bounce houses & slides, face painting, reptiles and so much more. The second was the adult party at Westin Kierland. It was a nice date night for us!

Christmas finally arrived & God's helper- Santa Claus visited our home. Emma really understood a lot more this year. She realized Santa was going to bring her presents and it was awesome seeing her precious face light-up at the site of the presents under the Christmas Tree.

(I'm still trying to figure out this blog-thing... the first picture posted here should be down further for Emma's Preschool Christmas program :o)

2011 was full of God's blessings and we are excited for 2012!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas & pray 2012 will bring happiness & peace!

1st day of preschool

My new backpack

My classroom

The sinks are just my size!

Making a new friend

Emma began preschool on Aug 15. We can't believe how the time goes so quickly! She likes her teachers, enjoys playing & praying with the other children, & loves singing songs about God. We are blessed that she adjusted so well & so quickly. She was certainly ready for this next chapter in her little life; however, Auntie Colleen was not. She misses her Emma, but we get to see her often & she is definitely still needed by her Emma :o)

2 Years Ago Today...

Our beautiful Emma Bear today
China

1st taste of Cherrios in China

2 years ago today it happened, we became a Forever Family. It was 8:30pm China time- 5:30am AZ time. We were one of the final 3 families in our group to see our precious daughter for the very first time.
We walked to the adoption center from our hotel. We were waiting anxiously & finally we heard the sound of babies crying. My heart raced & tears filled my eyes. Brian was running the video camera (which we have since found out- broke while on the trip- still working on getting all the video restored). Then I saw her, our precious Emma Grace, Chen Hong Ying. Her foster mother was holding her and with them was the foster father, foster grandfather & foster brother. Emma was holding onto a sippy cup- one just like Mommy & Daddy brought from America to give to her! I put out my arms to receive Emma & she began to cry. Pictures were being snapped, people were crying, & the room was filled with the beautiful Chinese language.
Once the goodbyes were said & I had Emma in my arms, we walked to a building to have our Visa photo taken. By now it was 10pm & Emma had completely fallen asleep in my arms. There was no way anyone would be able to wake this terrified little 14 month old. So the photo would have to wait until the next day.
The entire 2 weeks in China were awesome for us. We were very blessed that Emma was healthy, she slept through the night & took 2 naps a day. She interacted well with the other babies & the bonding process had begun!
We were great together as a family of 2, & had no idea how awesome we were going to be as a family of 3!
Brian & I often reminisce about that wonderful night 2 years ago & thank our Heavenly Father, our Lord Jesus Christ for His wonderful gift He has trusted to us.
Praise be to God!!

Playtime...

Hmmmmm, which color should I use?

Daddy's work hosted a Family Day at Castles N Coasters. Emma was all smiles on her very first ride.

Daddy attempted to take Emma on her first roller coaster, but both were kicked off due to Emma being too small :o(

I guess Daddy gets to teach Emma how to drive

Poolside fun at Aunty Colleen & Uncle Jody's

Uncle Kevin is so proud- Go Jayhawks!!

Gama & Gampa Throw bought this for Emma- it is as tall as she is! We went to the park to fly it & it flew great!
