1st taste of Cherrios in China
2 years ago today it happened, we became a Forever Family. It was 8:30pm China time- 5:30am AZ time. We were one of the final 3 families in our group to see our precious daughter for the very first time.
We walked to the adoption center from our hotel. We were waiting anxiously & finally we heard the sound of babies crying. My heart raced & tears filled my eyes. Brian was running the video camera (which we have since found out- broke while on the trip- still working on getting all the video restored). Then I saw her, our precious Emma Grace, Chen Hong Ying. Her foster mother was holding her and with them was the foster father, foster grandfather & foster brother. Emma was holding onto a sippy cup- one just like Mommy & Daddy brought from America to give to her! I put out my arms to receive Emma & she began to cry. Pictures were being snapped, people were crying, & the room was filled with the beautiful Chinese language.
Once the goodbyes were said & I had Emma in my arms, we walked to a building to have our Visa photo taken. By now it was 10pm & Emma had completely fallen asleep in my arms. There was no way anyone would be able to wake this terrified little 14 month old. So the photo would have to wait until the next day.
The entire 2 weeks in China were awesome for us. We were very blessed that Emma was healthy, she slept through the night & took 2 naps a day. She interacted well with the other babies & the bonding process had begun!
We were great together as a family of 2, & had no idea how awesome we were going to be as a family of 3!
Brian & I often reminisce about that wonderful night 2 years ago & thank our Heavenly Father, our Lord Jesus Christ for His wonderful gift He has trusted to us.
Praise be to God!!
